Our Mission
Create a sanctuary of empowerment for families and youths from marginalized communities of color in Minnesota.
Residents of Color Collective ROCC
Founded in May of 2019 with the intent of creating a voice and sanctuary of empowerment for historically marginalized communities of color living in West Saint Paul and throughout Minnesota. The goal is to ensure that these communities have access to knowledge, programs assistance and community connections that remove barriers.
Led by Founder and Executive Director Kae Jae Johnson, who brings 25 years of community organizing experience, ROCC is committed to reshaping resource delivery and advocating for racial equity.
ROCC believes that building community through partnerships creates a highway of resources and by adding the lanes of our partners, we have already made a significant impact in the community by equipping 800 students with new backpacks and supplies to ensure they have the tools to learn, warming over 300 individuals with new and gently used coats to protect them in Minnesota’s brutal winter, giving away nearly 400,000 pounds of food to families in need , hosting monthly resource fairs to promote personal development and engaging youth through our leadership program ROCC Climbers designed for BIPOC youth.
ROCC’s goals:
Expand our reach to more communities throughout Minnesota,
Continue to offer free programming for youth from marginalized communities of color.
Add more educational and leadership opportunities for families and youth we serve.
Increase professional and vocational opportunities for adults from marginalized communities of color.
Grow our community partnerships and engagements.
