Empowering Renters, Building Community
At the Renters Committee of ROCCMN, we are committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of renters within our community. Our mission is to create a supportive and equitable environment for all renters, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. Through education, outreach, and policy initiatives, we strive to:
Advocate for Fair Housing: We work tirelessly to ensure that renters have access to safe, affordable, and dignified housing. We collaborate with local organizations, policymakers, and landlords to address discriminatory practices and promote fair housing policies.
Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community. Our committee hosts regular workshops, town halls, and events to foster connections among renters. By sharing experiences, resources, and knowledge, we build a stronger collective voice.
Tenant Education: Knowledge is empowerment. We provide renters with essential information about their rights, responsibilities, and available resources. From understanding lease agreements to navigating eviction processes, we equip renters with the tools they need to thrive.
Equity and Inclusion: We actively center the experiences of renters of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized groups. Our committee advocates for policies that address systemic inequalities and promote housing justice.
Collaboration: We collaborate with other ROCCMN committees, local housing organizations, and government agencies to create meaningful change. By working together, we amplify our impact and advocate for policies that benefit all renters.
Join us in our mission to create a more just and equitable rental landscape. Together, we can build a community where every renter feels secure, valued, and empowered.
Be A ROCC Captain
Empowering Renters, One Building at a Time
As Building Captains, our mission is to create a network of support, knowledge, and advocacy within each residential building. We are committed to:
Connecting Residents: We will actively engage with fellow renters, fostering a sense of community. Whether it’s organizing meet-and-greets, hosting building-wide events, or simply checking in with neighbors, we aim to strengthen the bonds among residents.
Resource Hub: Building Captains will serve as a central resource hub. We’ll provide information on tenant rights, local services, emergency contacts, and community programs. Our goal is to ensure that no renter feels isolated or uninformed.
Problem Solvers: When challenges arise—whether it’s maintenance issues, disputes with landlords, or concerns about safety—we’ll be there to listen, empathize, and guide fellow renters toward solutions. Advocacy is at the heart of our role.
Emergency Preparedness: In times of crisis, Building Captains will coordinate emergency response efforts. From natural disasters to health emergencies, we’ll rally the community, share vital information, and support one another.
Cultural Bridges: We recognize the diversity within our buildings. As Building Captains, we celebrate this diversity by bridging cultural gaps, promoting understanding, and ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard.
Join Us!
We invite passionate renters to step up and become Building Captains. Together, we can create a resilient, informed, and tightly-knit community—one where every renter feels valued and connected
